Thirty-one franchise Jack in the Box restaurants in central and east Texas, owned by Bernie Morrissey of J&D Restaurant Group LLC, have temporarily closed. They will reopen by the end of the month as corporate-owned restaurants.
The franchisee for the restaurants defaulted on payments to the San Diego, California-based chain, which is assuming ownership of the locations, company spokesman Brian Luscomb [sic] said.
“The owner was not meeting our brand standards,” Luscomb [sic] said. “There were building and maintenance issues, and money was owed to Jack in the Box.” — Mike Copeland, Waco Tribune-Herald
According to Caleb Beames of KTRE TV, “The 31 restaurants will go back on sale at a later date. Lufscomb said Jack-in-the-Box will be looking for a quality franchisee to take over operation of the restaurants.”
